Assam launches Guru Dakshina portal for one-time financial settlement to non-provincialised venture teachers
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu launched the Guru Dakshina portal on 15 March 2026 to give a one-time financial settlement to teachers of venture institutions whose services were not provincialised.
Summary
The Guru Dakshina portal, a Government of Assam platform for a one-time financial settlement to eligible teachers of venture educational institutions, was launched by Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on 15 March 2026. It covers teachers of venture LP, UP, high, higher secondary schools and degree colleges whose institutions were provincialised but whose own services were not, under the Assam Venture Educational Institutions (Provincialisation of Services) Act, 2011 and the Assam Education (Provincialisation of Services of Teachers and Re-organisation of Educational Institutions) Act, 2017. Retired teachers can apply, but non-teaching staff cannot. Applications carry a ₹300 processing fee and go through three-stage verification — by the head of the institution, the district and the State — before the money is transferred to the applicant's bank account. The portal was introduced jointly by the State's Departments of School Education and Higher Education.
