A replica of the Ashoka Pillar built at Waskaduwa Sri Subhuthi Viharaya, a Buddhist temple in Kalutara district about 42 km south of Colombo, Sri Lanka, was unveiled on 21 July 2025. Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha was the Chief Guest, and office-bearers of the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) took part. Kyabje Ling Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader, fully sponsored the replica. Its foundation stone was laid on 28 January 2024. The temple's Chief Incumbent said the pillar recognises Emperor Ashoka's service to Sri Lanka.
