ARIES Nainital hosts global meeting on greenhouse gas observations

From 16 June 2025 at Nainital, Uttarakhand, ARIES hosted the five-day annual meeting of the NDACC-IRWG, TCCON and COCCON atmospheric observation communities at its Manora Peak campus.

Summary

The Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science & Technology, hosted the annual meeting of the NDACC Infrared Working Group, the Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON) and the Collaborative Carbon Column Observing Network (COCCON) at its Manora Peak campus, Nainital, from 16 to 20 June 2025. The meeting brought together experts in ground-based Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectroscopy to discuss greenhouse gas changes and the importance of observations from the Himalayan region. Former ISRO Chairman A. S. Kiran Kumar, chair of the ARIES governing body, inaugurated the meeting on 16 June.
