APEDA facilitates first export of GI-tagged Dalle Khursani from Sikkim to the Solomon Islands

APEDA announced on 24 March 2025 the first export of GI-tagged Dalle Khursani chilli from Sikkim to the Solomon Islands, a 200 kg consignment of dried chillies.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) announced on 24 March 2025 the first export of GI-tagged Dalle Khursani chilli from Sikkim to the Solomon Islands. Dalle Khursani, also called Fire Ball Chilli, has a pungency of 100,000–350,000 Scoville Heat Units. About 15,000 kg of fresh chillies were sourced from farmers and FPOs in South Sikkim at ₹250–300 a kg, against the usual ₹180–200. Processing at an APEDA-funded integrated pack house turned 1,600 kg of fresh chillies into 200 kg of dried chillies for export. Dalle Khursani is registered on India's GI Registry under application no. 636, filed by NERAMAC on 10 December 2018, with its certificate dated 14 September 2021.
