On 1 June 2026 in New Delhi, Dr Jitendra Singh launched the ₹200-crore Anusandhan National Research Foundation–Ministry of Jal Shakti MAHA Water Mission to support startups in the water sector.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launched the ₹200-crore Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)–Ministry of Jal Shakti MAHA Water Mission on 1 June 2026, at the inaugural session of the National Workshop on R&D in Water at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. The Mission supports startups with technology development, field validation and deployment for critical water challenges, and has five prongs: water resource management, drinking water, water quality, efficiency and climate adaptation. The Minister said ANRF is democratising research funding, with mission-mode programmes in water, EVs, drones, MedTech and 6G open to startups, MSMEs and institutions.
