ASI 2024-25: manufacturing GVA up 9.59%, employment crosses 2 crore; Tamil Nadu leads in jobs

MoSPI released Annual Survey of Industries 2024-25 results on 30 September 2026: Gross Value Added of registered manufacturing grew 9.59% and total employment rose 7.19% to over 2 crore, with Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana the top five states in employment.

Summary

The ASI 2024-25 (April 2024–March 2025) covers about 2.67 lakh registered manufacturing establishments. Output rose 7.81%, GVA 9.59%, fixed capital 10.54% and employment 7.19%, adding more than 14 lakh workers. Basic metals, motor vehicles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and food products together gave over 45% of manufacturing GVA. Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana had over 56% of manufacturing employment.
