Summary

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation released the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) results for 2023-24 on 27 August 2025. Gross Value Added grew 11.89% in current prices over the previous year, industrial output grew more than 5.80%, and total estimated employment grew 5.92%. The sector added about 57 lakh jobs in the decade from 2014-15 to 2023-24. Basic metal, motor vehicles, chemicals, food products and pharmaceuticals were the top five industries by GVA, while Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka were the top five states by employment.
