Actor Anant Nag to receive Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2024
On 16 September 2026, the Government of India announced that veteran actor Anant Nag will be conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024, to be presented at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony at Kevadia, Gujarat, on 22 September 2026.
Summary
Anant Nag, born on 4 September 1948 in Karnataka, has acted in over 300 films across Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Marathi cinema over more than five decades. He made his acting debut in the Kannada film Sankalp and his Hindi debut in Ankur, and is also known for Malgudi Days. Anant Nag has won five Filmfare Awards and five Karnataka State Best Actor Awards, and served in the Karnataka Legislative Council and Assembly. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award was instituted in 1969, when it was first presented to Devika Rani.
