On 7 October 2024, in New Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting on Left Wing Extremism (LWE) attended by the Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Telangana, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and the Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He said Naxalism will be completely eliminated by 2026, and that since January 2024, 237 Naxalites have been neutralised, 812 arrested and 723 have surrendered in Chhattisgarh. He asked Chief Ministers of LWE-affected states to review development and anti-Naxal operations once a month and DGPs at least once in 15 days.
