Amit Shah launches CBI-developed BHARATPOL portal linking police to INTERPOL

BHARATPOL connects central agencies and State police with INTERPOL's network of 195 countries.

Summary

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the BHARATPOL portal, developed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on 7 January 2025. BHARATPOL lets every Indian investigative agency and police force connect with INTERPOL's network of 195 countries and gives access to 19 types of INTERPOL databases. The portal has five modules — Connect, INTERPOL Notices, References, Broadcast and Resources. Amit Shah also presented police medals to 35 CBI officers and said BHARATPOL, along with the 'Trial in Absentia' provision in the three new criminal laws, would help bring fugitives to justice.
