The Minister said the board fulfils a 40-year-old demand of turmeric farmers, that Nizamabad has long been known as the turmeric capital, and that the board will build a complete chain for turmeric packaging, branding, marketing and export. The National Turmeric Board was launched on 14 January 2025 by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, with Palle Ganga Reddy as its first Chairperson (static).
