The 'Museum of Word' in Kolkata, whose first phase was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 19 July 2026 in the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, traces the journey of language from the sacred Omkar and the development of grammar, through the Shruti and Smriti traditions, palm-leaf manuscripts and stone inscriptions, to the printing press and Artificial Intelligence. The Museum of Word presents the written word through visual, auditory, tactile and immersive experiences and depicts the composition of Panini's grammar. Amit Shah said the Museum of Word should be expanded to cover digital technologies and AI.
