Shah said a collective campaign against drugs will run across the country for three years from 31 March 2026, and asked all central departments to set a roadmap up to 2029 with a monitoring mechanism. He said drugs worth ₹1.71 lakh crore (1.11 crore kg) were seized in 2014–2025, against ₹40,000 crore (26 lakh kg) in 2004–2013. The NCORD mechanism was set up in 2016 to improve coordination between the states, the Home Ministry and other stakeholders on the drug problem.
