He succeeds Lt Gen JP Mathew, who superannuated on 30 April 2025. Before this he was Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Air Command. Commissioned into the IAF's fighter stream on 6 December 1986, he is a Qualified Flying Instructor and Experimental Test Pilot with over 3,300 hours on more than 20 aircraft types, including the Mirage-2000, MiG-21 and Jaguar.
