AI and Computational Thinking to be taught in all schools from Class 3 from 2026-27

The Ministry of Education said on 30 October 2025 that Artificial Intelligence and Computational Thinking will be introduced in schools from Class 3 onwards, starting in the 2026-27 academic session.

Artificial Intelligence and Computational Thinking (AI & CT) will be taught in schools from Class 3 onwards starting in the 2026-27 academic session, the Ministry of Education's Department of School Education and Literacy said on 30 October 2025. The plan follows a stakeholder consultation on 29 October with CBSE, NCERT, KVS, NVS and experts, and is aligned with NEP 2020 and NCF SE 2023. CBSE has set up an expert committee chaired by Prof. Karthik Raman of IIT Madras to develop the curriculum. Resource materials are due by December 2025, and teachers will be trained through NISHTHA.
