On the second day of his Tripura–Assam visit, DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia laid the foundation stone of the ₹80 crore Agarwood Value Chain Development Scheme at North Fulkabari in Tripura. Two Central Processing Centres will be set up — one in Golaghat (Assam) and one in Tripura — for processing, branding and marketing. India has about 150 million agarwood trees, nearly 90% of them in the North-East, and the scheme aims to raise Tripura's production capacity by up to 50%. A GI tag process is under way, and agarwood chip export quotas have been raised from 25,000 kg to 1.5 lakh kg and oil from 1,500 kg to 7,500 kg.
