On 25 October 2024, at M/s L&T, Kattupalli, 'Abhay', the seventh Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) being built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) for the Indian Navy, was launched. The ceremony was presided over by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, FOC-in-C (East). The contract for eight ASW SWC ships was signed between the MoD and GRSE, Kolkata in April 2019. The Arnala class ships will replace the Navy's in-service Abhay class ASW corvettes and have over 80% indigenous content.
