The 6th BIMSTEC Summit, hosted by Thailand as the current chair in Bangkok on 4 April 2025, was held on the theme "BIMSTEC: Prosperous, Resilient and Open". The Summit adopted the Summit Declaration, the BIMSTEC Bangkok Vision 2030 document laying out a road map for the region's collective prosperity, the report of the BIMSTEC Eminent Persons Group, and saw the signing of the BIMSTEC Maritime Transport Agreement, which provides for national treatment of vessels, crew and cargo, mutual recognition of certificates and a Joint Shipping Coordination Committee. Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed a 21-point Action Plan, including BIMSTEC Centres of Excellence in India on disaster management, sustainable maritime transport, traditional medicine and agriculture, and BODHI (BIMSTEC for Organised Development of Human Resource Infrastructure), under which 300 youth from member countries will be trained in India every year. India will host the first BIMSTEC Games in 2027, when the grouping marks its 30th anniversary.
