19th Statistics Day marks 75 years of the National Sample Survey; MoSPI launches GoIStats app

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) celebrated the 19th Statistics Day at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, on 29 June 2025, marking the 132nd birth anniversary of Prof. Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis. The theme was '75 Years of National Sample Survey'; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Rao Inderjit Singh was chief guest. The National Sample Survey Office launched the GoIStats mobile application, with a 'Key Trends' dashboard on indicators such as GDP, inflation and employment and one-click CSV downloads. MoSPI also released the Sustainable Development Goals â National Indicator Framework (SDG-NIF) Progress Report 2025, its Data Snapshot and the SDG-NIF 2025. The Government designated 29 June, Mahalanobis's birthday, as Statistics Day in recognition of his contributions to statistics and economic planning (static).
