On 27 November 2024, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the 12th edition of the International Tourism Mart (ITM) in Kaziranga, Assam, in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu. The ITM, held from 26 to 29 November 2024, showcases the tourism potential of Northeast India. Shekhawat said hosting it in Kaziranga coincides with the 50th anniversary of Kaziranga's declaration as a national park; Kaziranga is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Mart also celebrated the 'Moidams of Charaideo' being declared India's 43rd UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2024. It is aligned with the Tourism Ministry's 'Travel for Life' initiative.
