Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh visited Rome on 14–15 April 2025 and called on Italy's Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, the Ministry of Defence said. He co-chaired the 11th India–Italy annual Joint Defence Committee meeting with Italy's Secretary General of Defence Luisa Riccardi. They discussed defence, security and industrial cooperation, including maritime cooperation and information-sharing arrangements with emphasis on the Trans Regional Maritime Network, and the situation in the Red Sea and Western Indian Ocean. The Defence Secretary stressed collaboration in technology and armament production. An MoU was signed between the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and Italy's AIAD to foster cooperation between the two defence industries.
